Volvo Cars Tonbridge achieves VPS Certification

Volvo have created a new approach to service that takes care of you as well as it takes care of your car. The Volvo Personal Service (VPS).

Volvo believe servicing your car should be simple, so have reinvented the traditional idea of a workshop visit. By consigning old working methods to the past, we’ve created a new approach to service that’s faster, more efficient, and which takes care of you as well as it takes care of your car.

Now, our expert technicians work in teams – like a racing car pit stop – which means most services will be completed within the hour. So, you might as well just wait and relax while we work.

HSF Group receives Electric Vehicle Accreditation

All HSF Group new car retailers have received their Electric Vehicle Approved (EVA) accreditation.

The Electric Vehicle Approved (EVA) scheme has been developed by the National Franchised Dealers Association (NFDA) to recognise retailers’ excellence in the electric vehicle sector. EVA is endorsed by the Government’s Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) and Energy Saving Trust.

The scheme encourages dealerships to further develop their ability in selling and servicing electric vehicles. It recognises dealers’ expertise in the electric vehicle sector and promotes industry standards for the benefit of the consumer.

Following two extremely successful years, which saw over two-hundred dealers obtain accredited status, the Government has renewed its co-sponsorship of the scheme.

Energy Saving Trust independently audits individual dealerships to verify that they meet a set of standards covering EV sales and aftersales. These include the customer qualification process, staff knowledge and training, EV demonstration and handover processes as well as availability of EV service bays and charge points on site.

Volvo XC90 Recharge Plug-In Hybrid T8

Honoured in inaugural What Car? Electric Car Awards

The honours keep coming for Volvo's flagship model, with the announcement today that the XC90 Recharge Plug-in Hybrid T8 has won the Hybrid Seven-Seater of the Year award in the first What Car? Electric Car Awards.

  • Volvo's flagship model takes Hybrid Seven-Seater of the Year title in the first What Car? Electric Car Awards
  • XC90 Recharge Plug-in Hybrid T8 praised for its luxury, practicality and performance
  • Plug-in hybrid system delivers both performance and exceptional efficiency – 0-62mph in 5.8 seconds, CO2 emissions from 63g/km and up to 100.9mpg
  • Efficiency delivers benefit-in-kind tax rates from just 15% for company car drivers
  • Seven individual seats featured in a fully flexible interior that is luxurious, comfortable and practical
  • Available in R-Design and Inscription equipment grades, plus higher-specification 'Pro' versions of each

The accolade further emphasizes the large luxury SUV's status: it also received 'best plug-in hybrid' honours in the general What Car? Awards in both 2019 and 2020, plus the 2019 'best used hybrid' title. This time the focus is on electrification, where Volvo has taken a market lead in introducing a plug-in hybrid version of every model in its UK line-up.

What Car? describes the XC90 Recharge T8 as an "outstanding plug-in hybrid package" that is "luxurious, spacious and quick". Although it is a large vehicle, its pure-electric driving range (officially up to 30 miles) is considered "plenty to electrify most commutes or school runs", while its powertrain also offers "great performance". Summing up, What Car? reports: "All in all, its practicality and performance make the XC90 one of the most versatile PHEVs going."

Volvo Cars launches fully electric Volvo XC40 Recharge as part of new electrified car line

Future Volvo customers will need to answer one fundamental question: do you want a new Volvo with a cord or without one? Today Volvo Cars introduces the XC40 Recharge, the company’s first ever fully electric car and the first model to appear in its brand new Recharge car line concept.

The XC40 Recharge, based on the multi-award-winning and best-selling XC40 small SUV, is the first of a family of fully electric Volvos. It represents a true milestone for Volvo Cars: the company’s first electric car and the first Volvo with a brand new infotainment system powered by Google’s Android operating system.

Over the next five years, Volvo Cars will launch a fully electric car every year, as it seeks to make all-electric cars 50 per cent of global sales by 2025, with the rest hybrids. Recharge will be the overarching name for all chargeable Volvos with a fully electric and plug-in hybrid powertrain.

From early 2020 customers entering the Volvo Cars website will first be asked whether they want a Volvo Recharge car or not. To further encourage electric driving, every Volvo Recharge plug-in hybrid model will come with free electricity for a year, provided through a refund for the average electricity cost during that period.

“We have said this several times before: for Volvo Cars, the future is electric,” said Håkan Samuelsson, chief executive. “Today we take a major new step in that direction with the launch of our fully electric XC40 and the Recharge car line.”

The XC40 Recharge is everything customers expect from a Volvo, with the addition of a state-of-the-art, fully electric all-wheel drive powertrain that offers a range of over 400 km (WLTP) on a single charge and output of 408hp. The battery charges to 80 % of its capacity in 40 mins on a fast-charger system.

    Volvo. Recharged.

Our cars have always been designed to help protect people. We will now design them to help protect the planet too.

We are recharging everything we do, from our cars to our factories and supply chain. Our ambition is to reduce our carbon footprint by 40% per car by 2025 compared to 2018. And to be climate neutral by 2040. Because we have only one planet.

We introduce Volvo Recharge – our new line of advanced pure electric and plug-in hybrid cars, designed to give you a refined and more sustainable driving experience. The cars you trust to protect your family, now also help protect their future.

Every new Volvo car we launch will be electrified.
Today, we are the only traditional car maker to offer plug-in hybrid options on all our models. And over the next five years, we will launch five new fully electric cars. It is our ambition that by 2025, half of the cars we sell will be electric.

    Electric is not enough.

It’s a start. But it’s not the entire solution. To protect the safety of our planet, we must do more than merely electrify our cars. Our vision is to be climate neutral across our full value chain by 2040 – a decade ahead of the Paris Agreement goal. So everything we do, has to be recharged.

    Operations. Recharged.

By 2025, we aim to reduce our total operational carbon emissions by 25% per car compared to 2018. This includes everything we do as a company, from manufacturing to business travel, as well as our retailer network. We already work towards climate neutrality in our manufacturing operations by 2025, and are making good progress with around 80% of our global plants powered by renewable electricity.

    Supply Chain. Recharged.

We aim to reduce supply chain carbon emissions – a major part of our overall value chain emissions – by 25% per car by 2025 compared to 2018. This includes emissions generated from the production of components and materials, and from the extraction of minerals and metals. We’ll work towards this vision in several ways, including helping our suppliers to increase their renewable energy use, as well as using more sustainable materials in our cars and reducing waste. We already have an ambition that at least 25% of all plastics used in new Volvo cars launched after 2025 will be made from recycled materials.

    Driving. Recharged.

Most of the total carbon emissions from a plug-in hybrid car occur when it is being driven on petrol. To encourage drivers of Volvo plug-in hybrids to drive as sustainably as possible, we aim to introduce ways to reward driving in pure electric mode.
